In July of 2020, representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Congress women for New your Bronx district 14 delivered a speech to the US congress regarding the comments shared by representative Yoho. Alexandria also known as AOC, is a very well educated, strongly appointed, and an advocate not only for equality but for women’s rights as well. In this speech AOC goes on to express in depth how not only Representitive Yohos comments about a women are said but no matter the position and authority you hold , behavior shown by him is seen all across the US towards women. For example she says, “These were the words that Representative Yoho levied against a congresswoman. The congresswoman that not only represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, but every congresswoman and every woman in this country. Because all of us have had to deal with this in some form, some way, some shape, at some point in our lives.” While this could’ve been handled and responded to privately , AOC uses this opportunity to express and advocate for herself and her audience that “enough is enough”.
Alexandria Ocarsio-cortez is a respected congresswomen that thrives to show her audience that she is not only a women all about business but is true to her word. For example, she goes to say, “I took a few steps ahead and I walked inside and cast my vote. Because my constituents send me here each and every day to fight for them and to make sure that they are able to keep a roof over their head, that they’re able to feed their families and that they’re able to carry their lives with dignity.” While not only shining light on her encounter with representative Yoho, she will persevere and stay confident with challenges she faces and not react in weakness.
